DeepSeek AI: The Revolution We Didn’t Need

Another AI enters the arena. How exciting. A completely new model that does exactly what every other AI already does. But this time… it’s open-source. Five stars for that. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

They say DeepSeek scores better than other models. 📈 That’s cute. But if those scores are based on mainstream knowledge, then congratulations, you’ve just won the gold medal in mediocrity. 🏅

Yes, it solved my coding challenge like no other AI before 🏆. No, the code wasn’t better than ChatGPT’s. It worked, sure. But "working" isn’t the same as "good". Performance? Security? Maintainability? Resilience?, Reliability? And many more... That’s where the real work begins. Work which AI still refuses to do. A perfect mirror of our fails.

When DeepSeek doesn’t know something? Expect repeated nonsense, hallucinations, and the slow realization that the model has given up. At least ChatGPT makes an effort to push you toward a new way of thinking instead of just generating the same answer in different words.

They say China censors AI. Cute. The West just does it with better marketing. It’s not about truth, it’s about control. You don't get the best answer, you get the approved answer. Whether it's DeepSeek, ChatGPT, or any other AI, the real intelligence isn't artificial. It’s the illusion of choice. How many times

Let’s not pretend AI is truly unbiased, either. It doesn’t give you the best solution, it gives you what it’s allowed to. Modern, functional plain Java with generics and maybe GraalVM? Too efficient. Instead, enjoy a curated list of "safe" but uninspired code. How often do I read: "I can't generate / translate due to copyright restrictions". How often do I get results with bad technology, even the AI knows the better results. It's not just DeepSeek. And why we are starting the East versus West political discussion? A competitor is always a matter of time. We should be impressed and also thankful that other countries involve, even we don't like what's going on there.

DeepSeek isn't a revolution. It's just another AI. But don't worry, most people won't even notice the difference. So don't Panic. It's just a new tool which everyone wants to try out.
